Starter Courses For Referees Now Online

THE time has never been better to become a referee and Suffolk FA are offering an updated course for those looking to get involved.

The new course will offer a blend of short targeted theory activities and plenty of practical based sessions. This will allow learners to begin to use their knowledge and key skills in a fun, nurturing environment.

The course involves the following:

An Introductory Evening – Two hours covering key skills, Laws of the Game and the responsibilities of the referee.

Practical Days (9am – 4pm) – Two full days to equip you with all you need to take on to the field in your first games.

Refereeing – Six games facilitated by Suffolk FA to ensure you are supported as you begin your new career.

Module 5 Call-Back – Come back and celebrate your successes with your new colleagues as you officially become a fully qualified referee!

Suffolk FA Referee Development Officer Alan Dale said: “I never appreciated where refereeing would take me when I first completed my course. Becoming a match official can be a really exciting way for people to get involved or continue their involvement in football.

“The opportunities have never being greater for those now taking up the whistle, with the support network that is offered to match officials.

“For those that are committed and show they have the potential, the possibilities to reach the highest levels of the game are available For All.

“Both the Suffolk FA Referees’ Department and the wider development team look forward to being part of the journey to maximise your potential – whatever your aspiration!”

The course is priced at just £99 – however with places limited, you are urged you to reserve your place as soon as possible. All applicants must be at least 14 years of age.

Prior to certification, candidates that are over 16 years of age are required to:

  • Hold a current FA Safeguarding Children certificate (additional cost of £25)
