Ransomes Sports win on penalties

RANSOMES Sports are through to the second round of this season’s Suffolk Senior Cup.

RANSOMES Sports are through to the third round of this season’s CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup.

They knocked out Brantham Athletic Reserves 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in Saturday’s second-round tie.

Ransomes join Lakenheath, who secured their place in round three the previous Saturday, in the last 16 of this season’s competition.

One of the two outstanding first-round fixtures – Leiston Reserves versus Needham Market Reserves – is taking place on Wednesday and the other, which sees Haverhill Borough entertain the 2019-20 runners-up Coplestonians, is on Saturday.

A further eleven second-round ties are scheduled for this coming week, with Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves at home to Bungay Town on Wednesday, Sudbury Sports entertaining Benhall St Mary on Friday and nine other ties fixed for Saturday.

The two ties in the first round of the Portable Space Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup on Saturday produced 16 goals!

Henley Athletic Reserves’ return journey from the New Croft was made all the more enjoyable after their 6-4 victory over Haverhill Rovers Reserves.

The other tie resulted in Halesworth Town Reserves defeating Crane Sports Reserves 4-2.

Henley Athletic Reserves will now entertain Trimley Red Devils Reserves while Halesworth Town Reserves will be at home to holders Woodbridge Town Reserves in round two.

The two first-round matches in this season’s McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup saw wins for Bramford United and Kesgrave Kestrels against Cavendish and Redgrave Rangers respectively. Redgrave Rangers (sky blue & white striped shirts) are pictured above in action against Hethersett Athletic in a Central & South Norfolk League Division One match earlier this season.

Bramford United will now host Old Newton United ‘A’ in the second round while Kesgrave Kestrels will visit Somersham Reserves.
