No case of unlucky 13 for Capel Plough

IT was not unlucky 13 for Capel Plough in the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.

IT CERTAINLY was not a case of unlucky 13 for Capel Plough in the first round of this season’s Days Sports Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.

The village side won 13-0 away to Leiston St Margarets in Saturday’s tie on an afternoon when 41 goals were scored in just five ties in the competition.

Long Melford were 9-3 winners at home to East Bergholt United and Cornard United defeated Henley Athletic 8-2.

The other two ties resulted in a 4-0 away win for Walsham-le-Willows at Benhall St Mary, while Westerfield United went through 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw with visitors Beccles Town.

Five more first-round ties are scheduled for this coming Saturday.

AFC Sudbury A had their shooting boots on against Walsham-le-Willows B in the Suffolk Primary Cup, winning 8-1 away from home.

Felixstowe Rangers were 6-2 winners on the road against Chantry Grasshoppers, while there were also away wins for East Bergholt A and AFC Kesgrave Reserves, who are pictured above (red & blue striped shirts) scoring their second goal from a penalty against Hope Church (orange shirts).

There were 11 goals in Sunday’s two Crown Imperial Girls’ Under-12 Cup ties and two home and two away wins in the Crown Imperial Girls’ Under-16 Cup.

Haverhill Town bowed out of the Crown Imperial Boys’ Under-14 Sunday Cup and the Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Sunday Cup, losing to Waveney Panthers and Bury Town Saints respectively.
