This season is the fifth year running that Needham Market have reached the semi-finals of the competition, and manager Warren Lewis-Claxton said: “It’s another proud moment for us, to reach this stage again.

“We’ve been able to reach this stage for the last five seasons since forming, and it continues to be a great achievement for the club.”

Needham knocked out holders AFC Sudbury last season, and the two teams know each other well, but Lewis-Claxton is not fazed by facing them in the final four.

“It’s a bit of an indifference really, I think it has its pros and cons. We know as much about one another, we know it’s always a competitive game when we play, so I’m sure it’ll be no different this time,” he said.

Lewis-Claxton spelt out what he would be telling his players prior to the match.

“Can we do it again?! I think we have to be up for the game, want to win and that mentality can carry us through. We worked really hard last season to win the cup, and we will do everything in our power to do so again.”

And he said what it would it mean to the club to reach this season’s final after winning the cup for the first time last season.

“It’s something we want to win each season, and even more so now to be able to retain it,” he said.

“It’s something that collectively and also individually we want to succeed in, so another final would be great.”

Needham should have a full squad to select from apart from their long-term injuries.
