Former winners all aim for final place

BOTH Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup Semi-Finals take place on Friday evening.

THREE previous winners of the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup will be aiming to move within 90 minutes of repeating the feat on Friday evening.

Brantham Athletic U23s, playing as Brantham Athletic Reserves, won the competition in the 2015-16 season, beating Haverhill Rovers 2-1 in the final.

They face Stowmarket Town U23s who lifted the cup as Stowmarket Town Reserves the following season when they defeated Woodbridge Town Reserves by the same scoreline. Stowmarket Town have been runners-up on three occasions since.

Stowmarket Town U23s currently sit second in the Thurlow Nunn League U23 Division, with opponents Brantham Athletic U23s occupying tenth position.

The tie is taking place on the 3G pitch at the MEL Group Stadium, home of AFC Sudbury, kick-off 8pm

The third former winners of the competition are Walsham-le-Willows U23s, who as Walsham-le-Willows Reserves won 1-0 against Stowmarket Town Reserves in the final two seasons ago.

Their opponents are Beccles Town Reserves, who have reached the final in the other three of the past four seasons but have lost on each occasion.

Walsham-le-Willows U23s are ninth in the Thurlow Nunn League U23 Division, while Beccles Town Reserves are fifth in Division Two of the Fosters Solicitors Anglian Combination.

The tie is being held at Badingham Road, home of Framlingham Town FC, kick-off 7.45pm.
