Cup ties go ahead after rain relents

THE majority of the scheduled Suffolk county cup quarter-finals went ahead at the weekend.

The rain that had swept across the county on Thursday and Friday relented over the weekend to allow the quarter-final ties in the Videndum Suffolk Girls’ U12, U13, U14, & U15 Cups to be played on Sunday morning.

Waveney Lionesses came out on top in their two ties versus Kirkley & Pakefield, defeating the Royals 2-1 in the U12 Cup and the Diamonds by the same scoreline in the U13 Cup.

Woodbridge Town went through to the last four in two competitions, beating Needham Market Phoenix 3-0 in the U12 Cup and Cornard Dynamos 5-1 in the U15 Cup. However, the Woodpeckers lost 8-1 to Claydon in the U14 Cup.

The draws for the semi-finals will be announced via the Suffolk FA X (formerly Twitter) feed on Thursday as follows:

 

Under-12s - 9am

Under-13s - 10am

Under-14s - 11am

Under-15s - 12 noon

 

Whitton Colts were 4-1 winners at AFC Hoxne in the only tie to go ahead in the quarter-finals this Best Badges Suffolk Veterans’ Cup. The other three matches were all walkover wins.

The draw for the semi-finals will be broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk and via the Suffolk FA X (formerly Twitter) feed on Friday from 6.30pm.

Thursday evening’s two quarter-final ties in this season’s Veo Suffolk Mixed U18 Midweek Cup were postponed and have now been rescheduled for Thursday, March 14th, kick-offs 7.45pm.

The semi-final draw will be broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk and via the Suffolk FA X feed on Friday from 6.30pm.
