SUFFOLK Senior Reserve Cup holders Hadleigh United Under-23s are out of this season’s competition.

They lost 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw home to Cornard United Reserves in Saturday’s first-round match.

That was one of four ties settled by penalties – three of which ended 5-4!

As well as Cornard United Reserves, Claydon Reserves edged past Leiston St Margarets Reserves after a 1-1 draw and Ipswich Wanderers U23s knocked out Haughley United Reserves after a goalless draw.

Beccles Town Reserves, who lost 1-0 to Hadleigh United Reserves in last season’s final, recorded a 22-0 victory over Ransomes Sports Reserves.

In the Best Badges Suffolk Veterans’ Cup on Sunday, holders Woodbridge Town put ten goals past Occold without reply, while both Bury Town and Bury Town Reserves had big home victories.

Hadleigh United and Norman Warriors also each netted eight times, against Bramford United and Pakefield Dynamos respectively.
