Exciting end to SIL Division One season

THERE’s an exciting end to the season in store in Division One of the SIL.

THERE’s an exciting end to the season in store in Division One of the Macron Suffolk & Ipswich League.

Four teams are locked on 49 points apiece heading into Saturday’s final round of matches.

Cockfield United, losing semi-finalists in this season’s Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup, lead the way on goal difference from Stowupland Falcons, winners of that competition for the past two seasons.

Tattingstone United sit third, while Somersham are one place below them.

Cockfield United hold a 12-goal advantage over their closest challenges Stowupland Falcons, who are four and six goals better off than the two teams beneath them.

Tattingstone United host Cockfield United on Saturday, with Stowupland Falcons at home to second-from-bottom Woolverstone United and Somersham entertaining third-bottom Capel Plough. Somersham (yellow shirts) are pictured in action in away to Bacton United 89 (red & green quartered shirts) earlier in the season.

With only two of the four teams set to be promoted, it promises to be a nerve-wracking afternoon for all concerned.
