Three hat-tricks in cup quarter-finals!
THERE was a goal spree in the quarter-finals of this season’s Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup.
Saturday’s four ties produced a total of 26 goals including three hat-tricks!
Cockfield United reached the final four for the first time in 15 years thanks to a 7-0 victory at Central & South Norfolk League Division One side Lakenheath Casuals, with Alfie Bullett scoring three times.
Brandon Salisbury also netted a treble as Thurston saw off Cavendish, last season’s losing semi-finalists, 6-2.
Mutford & Wrentham were 5-3 winners at Stowupland Falcons in a tie which was a repeat of the last two finals in this competition.
The Anglian Combination side led 3-0 at one point only for their hosts to pull it back to 3-3.
Mutford regained the lead before Harley Thompson completed his hat-trick in the closing stages to put Mutford through and gain some measure of revenge for their two final losses.
AFC Kesgrave, the 2017-18 winners, complete the semi-final line-up, edging a close match at fellow Macron SIL Division One side Stanton 2-1. Stanton (red shirts) are pictured above in action against Ipswich Athletic (green & black striped shirts) in the previous round of this season's competition.
The draw for the semi-finals will be broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk’s Non-League Hour on Thursday between 8pm and 9pm.
