Repeat of final in U18 Midweek Cup

THE Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup will see a repeat of last season’s final.

ONE of this season’s Veo Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup Semi-Finals will be a repeat of last season’s final.

Holders AFC Sudbury will face Ipswich Town Under-16s, who they defeated 3-2 in last season’s final at Colchester United FC.

The other last-four tie will be between Cornard United and Needham Market.

Cornard United defeated Needham Market 2-1 in the final of the 2013-14 competition when both midweek and Sunday teams were eligible to enter.

The following season the competition became open to midweek teams only, with a separate Boys’ U18 Sunday Cup.

Woodbridge Town won the first Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup final, with AFC Sudbury winning the competition in each of the last six years it has been completed. The 2019-20 competition was cancelled due to Covid.

The draw was broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk’s Non-League programme on Thursday evening and released simultaneously via the Suffolk FA Twitter feed.

Ties to be played at neutral venues week commencing March 20th, kick-offs 7.45pm.
