Needham Market secured their place in the final thanks to a 1-0 victory over Leiston at Stowmarket Town FC on Tuesday, with Stowmarket then beating Bury Town 3-0 at Needham Market FC on Wednesday.

Suffolk FA Chief Executive Richard Neal said: “I am delighted Bury Town FC are able to host this season’s Endeavour Automotive Suffolk Premier Cup Final.

“We have been trying, desperately, over months, to secure a stadium to host this Final of the highest-ranked male teams in Suffolk.

“The new Ipswich Town owners made clear from the start the need to modernise the pitch at Portman Road. Initially this was planned for last summer, but when they found major structural works were required before the pitch works could be started it became clear this was a two-summer process rather than one.

“Therefore we have known for some time that playing Finals at Portman Road won’t be possible, although we certainly have tried!

“As previously when Portman Road has been unavailable, we have been trying to secure Colchester United as hosts of this Final, particularly before the EFL season ends on May 8th, as they did last season.

“May 8th is important for the finalists as well because of the dates involved with player contracts.

“After much back-and-forth over a period of months, Colchester United have made clear that they will not allow us to host any game before May 10th.

“Whilst the Final at Bury Town FC will still be a great occasion, and I know all at the club will help us put on a fantastic event, I am acutely aware the Final not being in a Football League stadium will likely bring an element of disappointment.

“Nobody would rather this Final be hosted in a Football League stadium more than us, and we have tried everything in our control for that to be the case, but with the answers we have received and now the finalists have been decided and their circumstances understood, hosting at one of the leading clubs and grounds in Suffolk is a fantastic option which we are pleased to confirm.

“As has become normal for Suffolk FA County Cup semi-finals and Finals, no cash admittance will be accepted on the gate. I hope supporters from both clubs, and neutral football fans alike, will be able to join us for this exciting local derby with even more meaning than usual by securing tickets prior to kick off.”
