Bungay aim for first Women's Cup Final

A FIRST MH Goals Suffolk Women’s Cup Final appearance possibly awaits Bungay Town.

A FIRST MH Goals Suffolk Women’s Cup Final appearance possibly awaits Bungay Town.

They face Brett Vale, the 2019-20 runners-up, in their re-arranged semi-final at the Morrish Stadium, home of Walsham-le-Willows FC, on Sunday afternoon.

Bungay, who play in Division One of the Norfolk Women’s & Girls’ League, have scored 13 goals and just conceded one in their two matches in this season’s competition. Bungay (sky blue shirts) are pictured above in action during their 6-1 victory at Ipswich Vale Exiles (red & black striped shirts) in their quarter-final tie.

However, they will be up against opponents who sit top of the Premier Division of the Suffolk Girls’ & Women’s League and will be favourites to progress.

Needham Market await the winners in the final, after winning 6-1 versus East Bergholt United in their last-four fixture at Ipswich Wanderers FC fortnight ago.

Meanwhile, Woodbridge Town are through to their eighth Best Badges Suffolk Veterans’ Cup Final in the last nine years.

The Woodpeckers, who appeared in seven consecutive finals before missing out last season, won 2-1 at Ipswich Wanderers in their re-arranged semi-final on Wednesday evening.

They will now face Haverhill Rovers, who won the competition in the 2013-14 season – the last before Woodbridge’s seven-season sequence – in the final.

The final will take place at Bloomfields, home of Needham Market FC, on Sunday, April 23rd, as part of ‘Super Sunday’ when four county cup finals will be staged on the same day.

The match will kick-off at 2.30pm on the main pitch.
