Taverners through to Trophy Final

TAVERNERS are through to the Suffolk Sunday Trophy Final after a penalty shoot-out.

TAVERNERS are through to the Best Badges Suffolk Sunday Trophy Final after a penalty shoot-out.

The Ipswich-based side came back from 2-0 to draw their semi-final tie versus West Suffolk Wolves 2-2.

They then held their nerve to win the subsequent penalty shoot-out at Salmet Close 4-3 to book their place in the final.

There they will meet AFC Dragonfly on ‘Super Sunday’ at Needham Market FC on Sunday, April 23rd.

The two semi-finals in the Portable Space Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup were both postponed by the weather.

The tie between Ransomes Sports Reserves and Hadleigh United Reserves, which was scheduled to take place at Stowmarket Town FC on Friday, will now be played at Old Newton United FC on Saturday, April 23rd, kick-off 2pm.

The match involving Beccles Town and Claydon, which was due to be held at Woodbridge Town FC on Saturday, will be staged at the same venue on Tuesday, April 4th, kick-off 7.45pm.

Th only other midweek county cup fixture is on Thursday evening when holders AFC Sudbury face Ipswich Town Under-16s in the second semi-final of the Veo Suffolk Boys' Under-18 Midweek Cup at Hadleigh United FC in a repeat of last season's final. Th winners will face Needham Market.
