Tasty ties await in Junior Cup fixtures

Bardwell Sports, last season’s winners of the McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup, entertain former SIL Senior Division side Stanton.

Kesgrave Kestrels, who lost to Bardwell Sports in that final, welcome Woolverstone United, who won promotion to Division One of the Macron SIL for the first time last season.

Grundisburgh, the seven-times winners of the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup now playing in SIL Division One, have home advantage against SIL Division Two leaders Thurston.

Last season’s losing semi-finalists Cavendish host Bramford United, winners of the McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup in the 2020-21 season.

Tattingstone United, who also reached the final four last season before bowing out to Stowupland Falcons, take on Clare Town.

Holders Stowupland Falcons, who will be bidding to become the first team since Walsham-le-Willows (1987-88, 1988-89 & 1989-90) to make it three straight wins in the competition, start their defence at home to Wenhaston United.

Ipswich Athletic, the 2014-15 winners, entertain Kessingland, who play in Division One of the Lowestoft & District League.

Sunday sees the first round of the Girls’ Youth Cups following the return of the Boys’ competitions post-Covid last weekend.

The first match in this season’s CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup was played on Tuesday evening with Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves recording a 3-0 victory at home to Macron SIL Senior Division side Benhall St Mary.

The remainder of the first-round ties are scheduled for next weekend.
