The article has been produced in association with Goal Click, who tell real stories about the lives of people and their football communities through analogue photography, short film and their own words.

Suffolk FA Football Development Officer (Growth) Kirsty Smith said: “This has been over a year in the making and is huge for Gavin and for us as a county that an international company have worked with and showcased a Suffolk Pan Disability player.”

Gavin was the Suffolk FA winner of The Spirit of Grassroots Football Award in the 2021 FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards. He is pictured above receiving his award from McDonald’s Franchisee Carol Rogerson and Suffolk FA Chair Phil Lawler.

The impact made by Gavin, who has Down Syndrome, was felt massively within his Wot’s Warriors FC team and also the wider community.

He posted daily football and fitness videos through his social media channels, showing people that it is possible to keep going through lockdown and how exercise can make a difference.

Gavin also won the Active Suffolk ‘The Active Advocate Award (Volunteer)' 2021 category.

Gavin won the award for inspiring others in the Wot’s Up Warriors FC disability squad to keep going during the Covid pandemic.
