Pair selected for South East squad

TWO Suffolk schoolgirls have been selected for the South East of England.

TWO Suffolk schoolgirls have been selected for the South East of England.

Phoebe Duffin and Autumn Wheaton attended the English Schools’ Football Association Under-15 Girls’ International trials for the South East at Rayners Lane FC in Harrow on Sunday.

Phoebe attends Farlingaye High School in Woodbridge while Autumn is a pupil at County Upper School in Bury St Edmunds.

Both girls were successful and have now been invited back to the next stage where they will represent the South East of England versus the South West of England on Sunday, November 13th.

Suffolk FA County Support Officer Ruth Ward, who is administrator for Suffolk County Schools’ FA, said: “SCSFA would like to congratulate both girls as reaching this stage as it is a great achievement and one we as a county are extremely proud of.

“We would also like to wish them all the best for November 13th.

The girls’ selection follows on from the success last season of Kaci-Jai, a student at St Joseph’s College in Ipswich, who was selected for the ESFA U15 Schoolgirls’ squad.

This Sunday sees the U18 boys start their trials process where Suffolk Schools will have five boys representing the county.

“We would like to wish them all the best and look forward to hearing how they get on,” added Ruth.
