Three all-Ipswich ties in Vets' Cup
THERE are three all-Ipswich derbies in the Best Badges Suffolk Veterans’ Cup on Sunday.
Foxhall Town were the biggest winners of the first round of this season’s competition, winning 9-0 at Stoke-by-Nayland. They now have home advantage when they face Ipswich Vale Exiles.
Ipswich Wanderers make the short trip to Ransomes Sports, while the other all-Ipswich tie sees Whitton United, the holders, host Coplestonians.
Last season’s runners-up Lowestoft Town, who were 5-0 winners at Cockfield United in round one, host another Ipswich-based side in Westbourne Warriors.
Action is pictured above from last season’s finals between Whitton United (green & white stiped shirts) and Lowestoft Town (blue shirts) at Needham Market FC.
AFC Sudbury and Mildenhall Town, whose first teams are two of the higher-ranked clubs in the county, will be aiming to make an impression in this competition.
Both have home ties – AFC Sudbury welcome Kesgrave Kestrels and Mildenhall Town take on Kedington.
In the Veo Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup Brantham Athletic earned themselves a home third-round tie versus Ipswich Town Under-16s after overcoming Bungay Town 4-1 on Tuesday night.
