Junior Cup Final Stowupland Falcons Mutford Wrentham May 2022 6

Junior Cup last 32 in action on Saturday

THE last 32 are in Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup action on Saturday.

THE last 32 of this season’s competition are in Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup action on Saturday.

One of the most intriguing ties is that between Tuddenham Rovers, who are playing in the competition for the first time this season, and Tattingstone United.

Tuddenham Rovers currently sit third in Division 2A of the Cambridgeshire County League, while Tattingstone United are second in Division One of the Macron SIL.

Cockfield United, third in Division One, will be bidding to avoid a potential banana skin away to Great Blakenham Chequers, third and unbeaten with six wins and a draw in Division Two.

Bacton United 89, the 2016-17 winners of this competition, travel to fellow SIL Division One side Achilles, winners of the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup in the same season and again in 2018-19.

Holders Stowupland Falcons, the undefeated leaders of SIL Division One, travel to Waveney ‘A’, while runners-up for the past two seasons Mutford & Wrentham entertain Capel Plough, the 2019-10 Senior Cup losing finalists.

Action is pictured above from last season’s final between Stowupland Falcons (yellow shirts) and Mutford & Wrentham (white shirts) at Colchester United FC which Stowupland Falcons won 1-0.

SIL Division Two sides Kesgrave Kestrels (4th) and Kirton Athletic (2nd) appear to be closely matched, as do Thurston, who lead that league, and Puddlebrook 68, top of Cambridgeshire County League 1A.

There’s no doubt about the tie of the second round in the MH Goals Suffolk Women’s Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Holders AFC Sudbury travel to Needham Market in a repeat of last season’s final which saw AFC Sudbury win 3-1 at Colchester United FC.

Both teams won promotion to the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division at the end of last season and they have identical records so far this season, both picking up 12 points from their opening six fixtures.

With only one of last season’s finalists able to reach the last eight and three sides already through, the other eight sides in action on Sunday will be eager to join them in the quarter-final draw.

ERWFL Division One South side East Bergholt United host Division One North Haverhill Rovers, with both teams sitting in mid-table in their respective divisions.

Stowupland Falcons, who currently sit top of the Suffolk Girls’ & Women’s Football League Premier Division with six wins from six, entertain Needham Market Women’s Reserves.

Brett Vale are also unbeaten and welcome Woodbridge Town, while Halesworth Town, who are bottom of the SG&WFL Championship, have home advantage against Norfolk Women’s & Girls’ Football League Division One side Bungay Town.

Earlier in the day there are a number of matches across five different age groups in the Suffolk Boys’ county cup competitions that were postponed due to the wet weather a fortnight ago plus one Girls’ Under-15 match.
