Leagues raise funds for Offside Trust
TWO leagues are coming together to raise money for the Offside Trust.
The inaugural Offside Trust Trophy is taking place on Sunday, May 29th at Brewers Green Lane, home of Diss Town FC, kick-off 2pm.
The match will be between the winners of the top divisions of Sunday leagues either side of the Suffolk-Norfolk border.
Moreton Hall Ferals, winners of Division One of the Premier Logos Bury & District Sunday League, will play Easton, winners of the Premier Division of the Norwich & District Sunday League.
Admission to the match will be free and all proceeds will go towards the work of the Offside Trust, which is a non-profit organisation founded and run by survivors of child sexual abuse in sport.
The Offside Trust, which is a partner of Suffolk FA, the Offside Trust is dedicated to keeping all children safe in sport.
Alan Arber of the Offside Trust said: “We are providing the trophies and Offside Trust match balls along with medals for both teams and awards for officials and a man of the match award.
“The officials, who will be supplied by both leagues, will wear Offside Trust warm-up T-shirts too.”
Mark Stiff, who is Chair of the Bury & District Sunday League, said he hopes that the match will become an annual event.
Programmes as well as hot food and drinks will be available on the day and the bar will also be open for spectators, who will be able to donate to the Offside Trust via collection buckets.
