THE 2021-22 Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup Final will be a repeat of last season’s showpiece occasion.

Stowupland Flacons and Mutford & Wrentham both won their respective semi-finals over the weekend to set up a reunion in this season’s final.

Holders Stowupland Falcons defeated Tattingstone United 3-1 at Woodbridge Town FC on Friday night and Mutford & Wrentham saw off Cavendish by the same scoreline at Walsham-le-Willows FC on Saturday afternoon.

The Suffolk Junior Cup dates back to the 1989-90 season and in the 119 finals played since then the two sides contesting the final have never been the same two years running. 

Even when Finningham dominated the competition by reaching six finals in seven years between 1963-64 and 1969-70, Walsham-le-Willows won it three years running between 1987-88 and 1989-90 or Tuddenham Rovers did likewise a decade later, each time they faced different opponents in the final.

The Morrish Stadium, home of Walsham-le-Willows FC, is the scene of another county cup semi-final on Monday night when the club’s Youth team take on Ipswich Town Under-16s in the Suffolk Boys’ U18 Midweek Cup.

The winners will face AFC Sudbury, who overcame Needham Market 2-1 in their last-four tie at Bury Town FC last Thursday, in the final at Colchester United FC on Thursday, May 5th.
