Big night awaits for two Kirkley teams
IT’S the quarter-finals of the Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup on Thursday night.
And it’s a big night for Kirkley & Pakefield who are involved in two of the four ties – the club’s Youth AFC Royals team are at home to Walsham-le-Willows, while their other team visit AFC Sudbury.
However, both teams are likely to have their work cut out if they are to progress to the last four.
AFC Sudbury have won the last five completed competitions – Covid meant that the 2019-20 competition had to be shelved – and Walsham have twice been runners-up during that time.
Felixstowe & Walton United, who lost in last season’s semi-final to eventual runners-up Leiston, will be aiming to at least emulate that achievement when they host Needham Market.
The other tie sees Framlingham Town host Ipswich Town’s Under-16 side at Badingham Road.
The semi-final draw will be announced at 5pm on Friday.
Action is pictured above from the 2018-19 final in which AFC Sudbury (red shirts) defeated Walsham-le-Willows (yellow shirts) 4-1 at Portman Road.
