EE and The FA have signed a three-year agreement to broadcast The FA Disability Cup next weekend.

The FA Disability Cup returns on June 11th and 12th with a weekend of accessible coverage live from St George’s Park, available for anyone to watch via the BT Sport App, Facebook and highlights on Channel 4

Initiatives on and off the pitch kicked-off with the opening of two multi-purpose sensory rooms at Wembley Stadium, connected by EE, at the Emirates FA Cup Final.

EE have announced a number of initiatives as Lead Partner of all England Teams and Wembley Stadium, to support the growth of disability football on and off the pitch, ensuring the game is as inclusive as possible for fans and spectators with disabilities.

A three-year commitment to broadcast The FA Disability Cup exclusively live on BT Sport has been agreed and for the second consecutive year the competition will be the most accessible live broadcast of a UK football match.

The 2022 FA Disability Cup will see six cup finals scheduled across the weekend, delivered by The FA in partnership with a range of impairment-specific organisations.

The cup is the largest competition of its kind in this country, ensuring players within impairment-specific football have a national FA competition to call their own, complete with dreams of reaching St George’s Park for finals weekend.

BT Sport will show every match on the Saturday and Sunday with live coverage beginning at 10am on each day and presented by TV presenter and Paralympic medalist, Ade Adepitan, seven-time Paralympic champion Hannah Cockcroft and BT Sport presenter Lynsey Hipgrave. On each day, live coverage of all the finals will feature on three BT Sport channels with each offering different accessibility features.

Enhanced Audio Description delivered by an expert based at St George’s Park will be available and BT Sport Extra 1 will carry British Sign Language, with sub-titles available on BT Sport 1 & 3.

BT Sport will also livestream all finals across both days via the BT Sport Facebook page (facebook.com/btsport) and the BT Sport App for mobiles, tablets, smart TVs, media adapters and games consoles.

Highlights coverage will be available on Channel 4 on Saturday, June 18th at 12pm, then available on All4.

Baroness Sue Campbell, The FA’s Director of Women's Football and the organisation’s strategic lead for disability football, said: “This year’s FA Disability Cup is back bigger and better than ever before and we are delighted that the action will once again be broadcast live on BT Sport as part of a new three-year commitment.

“We hope the exposure will give even more players the confidence to return or take the first step on their disability football journey and would encourage everyone to tune into the action for what promises to be a thrilling weekend of football.”

Pete Jeavons, marketing communications director, BT & EE said: “As lead partner of The FA, EE is committed to boosting disability football in this country by offering more opportunities and greater exposure at every level of the game and we look forward to working with The FA as disability football continues to grow.”

Jamie Hindhaugh, head of BT Sport said, “Last year’s FA Disability Cup was a great success with two days of highly competitive, fantastic football broadcast live on BT Sport and we’re looking forward to more of the same this year.”

These initiatives are the latest in EE’s commitment to Para and Disability football as part of the ‘4-3-3’ strategy, a five-year plan that’s using technology and innovation in footballing communities across the UK to help change the lives of millions of players, coaches and fans.

EE and The FA recently opened two multi-purpose sensory rooms at Wembley Stadium which were unveiled at the 2022 Emirates FA Cup Final to better accommodate neuro-divergent guests and their families. Wembley Stadium is the first venue in the country to offer two sensory rooms, providing guests who would ordinarily find the stadium experience challenging a safe and comfortable space to enjoy events and match-days.
