Awards returning to Trinity Park!
THE Active Suffolk Awards are returning to Trinity Park this winter.
After two years, the prestigious Active Suffolk Award ceremony will be making a comeback, taking place at Trinity Park on Friday, November 18th 2022.
The Active Suffolk Awards celebrates and recognises a diverse range of individuals, organisations, clubs and schools across Suffolk who have been successful in their chosen sport, have overcome adversity through physical activity or who have gone above and beyond to support their local community to engage in physical activity, movement and sport.
Due to the impact of the pandemic, the award ceremony had been adapted in the last two years, where Active Suffolk, the lead organisers of the event, made the decision to celebrate local people online through their Lockdown Activity Hero campaign and the virtual Active Suffolk Awards which took to our screens last winter.
Tony Bush, Head of Operations at Active Suffolk said: “We are proud of the way we adapted over the last two years whilst a face-to-face celebration has not been possible, however we are incredibly excited to be hosting our long-standing and prestigious award ceremony later this year!
“The Active Suffolk Awards have a fantastic reputation for showcasing the best in our county and we look forward to rewarding those who have excelled in their sport, whilst also recognising people from Suffolk who may have overcome adversity through increased movement.
“It is also very important that we recognise those who are supporting us in our mission to improve the health of local people through increased participation in sport and physical activity.
“Whilst we have been successful in celebrating those that rightly deserved recognition in the last two years, there is nothing like a physical event and we look forward to returning to Trinity Park on Friday 18th November.”
On the night, the following awards will be presented: Sports Personality of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year, Active Unsung Hero, Active Community of the Year, Activity Champion of the Year, Active Club of the Year, Active Primary School of the Year, Active Secondary School of the Year, Team of the Year and Innovative Project of the Year.
There will also be two special industry awards including The Lifetime Achievement Award and The Active Change Award, which will be chosen by the judging panel made up of industry experts working across the sport, leisure and health sector in Suffolk.
Event supporters BBC Radio Suffolk will be presenting the evening which will be hosted from Trinity Park in Ipswich and the awards are being sponsored by Places Leisure, Babergh & Mid Suffolk Council, East Suffolk Council, Everyone Active, Ipswich Borough Council, Larking Gowen, University of Suffolk and Abbeycroft Leisure.
Claire Turnbull, Brand and Propositions Manager at Abbeycroft Leisure, said: “The Active Suffolk Awards are always thoroughly enjoyed by our sector.
“It is a chance to celebrate and acknowledge those who sometimes go unnoticed, despite their success or tremendous efforts in supporting local people to be active.
“We are pleased to be supporting the event once more by sponsoring the Active Change Award which will recognises an individual who has overcome adversity through fulfilling a physically active lifestyle, something which we are committed to supporting through our various community projects and facilities in Suffolk.”
Sponsorship opportunities are still currently available through Active Suffolk. If you or your business are interested in finding out more about the sponsorship packages available for this year’s event, contact Tony Bush at tony.bush@activesuffolk.org
