THERE will be plenty of local, non-league action to watch in Suffolk over the festive period.

With teams having home and away games, and most of the away games being close by, there is plenty on offer for spectators to go and watch/support their local side. Here we focus on the games where a Suffolk side is at home.

Before the Festive Period, on Tuesday, December 20th  Bury Town welcome Heybridge Swifts to the Atalian Servest Stadium, whilst Sudbury Sports host Stanway Rovers Community U23 in the Essex & Suffolk Border League Premier Division.

Then on the evening of Friday, December 23rd there are two Suffolk derbies scheduled in Division One North of the Thurlow Nunn League – Framlingham Town v Debenham LC and Haverhill Borough v AFC Sudbury Reserves.

Boxing Day sees a packed programme  including a number of cracking local derbies.

Suffolk’s two top-ranked sides meet head-on at the Victory Road Ground when Leiston entertain Needham Market in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

Meanwhile, Lowestoft Town will welcome Gorleston, the team who have been ground-sharing with the Trawlerboys at Crown Meadow this season, in the Isthmian League North.

There are three Suffolk derbies among the Boxing Day fixtures in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division.

Brantham Athletic entertain Ipswich Wanderers, Hadleigh United host Long Melford, and Mildenhall Town entertain Walsham-le-Willows. Kirkley & Pakefield also have a home match with Norwich United making the trip to Walmer Road.

In the Thurlow Nunn League Division One North Needham Market Under-23s are at home to Leiston Reserves.

For those of you who also want to take in a match the following day you have two to choose from in the Isthmian League North.

The A134 derby sees AFC Sudbury host Bury Town, while Felixstowe & Walton United welcome Coggeshall Town, with both matches kicking-off at 1pm on Tuesday, December 27th.

There is then a break until Monday, January 2nd when there are two more derbies in the Isthmian League North as Bury Town take on Lowestoft Town at 1pm, then two hours later Stowmarket Town welcome Felixstowe & Walton United.

Needham Market are also at home on the same afternoon, against Hitchin Town in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

There are six matches with Suffolk sides at home in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, with four being all-Suffolk affairs, and a further four Suffolk sides are at home in Division One North, with three being all-Suffolk clashes.

There are also nine matches scheduled across the Macron Suffolk & Ipswich League, with Claydon FC set to field teams in Senior Division, Division Two and Division Three fixtures!
