Ipswich withdraw from Women's Cup
IPSWICH Town’s dominance of the Suffolk Women’s Cup is over.
The club, who have won the cup the past seven seasons in a row, have withdrawn from this season’s competition.
With nine wins in the past ten years – AFC Sudbury won the cup in the 2013-14 season – Ipswich had originally entered their Development XI into the competition but have now pulled out.
East Bergholt United Reserves have also withdrawn as they have folded, meaning both teams’ opponents – Bungay Town and Woodbridge Town – will receive byes to the quarter-finals.
The draw for the second round saw both AFC Sudbury and Needham Market’s respective first and Reserve teams kept apart.
Ipswich Town (blue shirts) are pictured celebrating a goal against Needham Market (red shirts) in last season's final. Ipswich won the final 6-0 at AFC Sudbury.
Ties to be played on Sunday, November 21st 2021, kick-offs 2.30pm.
