FORTY-SIX teams will be under starter’s orders in the Suffolk Primary Cup on Saturday.

FORTY-SIX teams will be under starter’s orders in the McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup on Saturday.

Twenty-three first-round ties are scheduled this weekend as the road to a possible final appearance gets under way.

This competition traditionally attracts the highest number of entrants of all the adult county cup competitions – and this season is no different.

Those 23 teams that progress will join Haverhill Town Youth, Spexhall Huntsman & Hounds Reserves and Stowupland Falcons Reserves, who have all received byes through to round two, plus Great Blakenham Chequers, who defeated Clare Town Reserves 5-4 on penalties following a 4-4 draw last Saturday.

Also waiting for them in the draw will be AFC Kesgrave Reserves, AFC Wanderers, Cockfield United Reserves, Kirton Athletic Reserves and Needham Market Phoenix, whose respective opponents have withdrawn from the competition.

AFC Kesgrave Reserves (blue & red striped shirts) and Sporting 87 Reserves (white shirts) are pictured above during a Macron SIL Intermediate A fixture in September. Sporting 87 Reserves host East Bergholt United ‘A’ in Saturday’s first round.
