New name on the Suffolk Junior Cup

A NEW name will be engraved on the Suffolk Junior Cup this season.

A NEW name will be engraved on the Total Football Suffolk Junior Cup this season.

Mutford & Wrentham and Stowupland Falcons, neither of whom have previously won the cup, will meet in the final at The New Croft in Haverhill on Bank Holiday Monday, May 31st, kick-off 3pm.

Three-time winners Brandon Town were beaten 3-2 by Mutford & Wrentham in their semi-final at Bacton United 89 FC on Saturday.

Stowupland Falcons, meanwhile, overcame Sporting 87 2-1 at Old Newton United FC. It was the second time in three seasons that Sporting 87 have lost at the semi-final stage in this competition.

The final of the Portable Space Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup will be a repeat of the 2019-20 final.

Holders Woodbridge Town Reserves defeated Trimley Red Devils Reserves 2-1 at Trimley’s home ground at Stennett’s Playing Field. The venue was switched due to cases of the Covid variant from India being recorded in Needham Market, where the tie was due to be played.

There was double semi-final heartbreak for Framlingham Town, whose first team lost in the semi-final of the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup (see separate report).

Framlingham Town Reserves lost 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out to Beccles Town Reserves following a 2-2 draw at Bungay Town FC.

Beccles Town Reserves will face Woodbridge Town Reserves in the final at Maltings Meadow, home of Bungay Town FC, this coming Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm.

Lowestoft-based FC Whitehorse are through to the last four of this season’s McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup.

They won 2-0 away to Stowupland Falcons Reserves in Saturday’s quarter-final and will now play Bramford United in the semi-final at Claydon FC on Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm.

Holders Ipswich Town will meet Needham Market in a repeat of the 2018-19 HomeStore Self Storage Suffolk Women’s Cup Final.

Ipswich Town overpowered Bungay Town 24-0 in their last-four tie at Framlingham Town FC on Sunday, with Lucy O’Brien scoring seven times and Zoe Barratt six.

Needham Market defeated fellow East Region Women’s League Division One North side Haverhill Rovers 3-0 at Mildenhall Town FC.

The final will be staged at AFC Sudbury this coming Sunday, May 30th with a 5pm kick-off.

Three county cup finals on ‘Super Sunday’ were also held at AFC Sudbury (see separate reports).
