Sixteen teams vie for last-eight spots

SIXTEEN teams will chase a place in the Suffolk Primary Cup Quarter-Finals on Saturday.

SIXTEEN teams will chase a place in the McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup Quarter-Finals on Saturday.

There are four all-Macron SIL ties, with Division Three sides AFC Wanderers (fifth) and Hope Church (11th) meeting at Humber Doucy Lane.

AFC Kesgrave Reserves, who sit fifth in Intermediate League A, welcome Bardwell Sports, who have lost just once in Division Three this season and are currently third.

Great Blakenham Chequers are second in Division Three and will start favourites against Cockfield United Reserves, who are second-from-bottom of Intermediate League A.

The fourth and final all-SIL affair sees Kesgrave Kestrels, fourth in Division Three, at home to Hadleigh United Brettsiders, beaten just once in nine league games and fourth in Division Four. Kesgrave Kestrels (blue & white striped shirts) are pictured above in action against Unity (red shirts) in an SIL Division Three fixture earlier this season.

The four other ties pit teams from different leagues against each other.

SIL Intermediate B Framlingham Town ‘A’, who are third-from-bottom, Welcome Thurlow Youth, currently mid-table in Division 3A of the Kershaw Cambridgeshire League.

Haverhill Town Youth, also in mid-table but in Division 4A, make the long trek to SIL Intermediate A side Wickham Market Reserves.

Spexhall Huntsmen & Hounds, the sole representatives of the Lowestoft & District League and presently in second place, have home advantage against Gipping Gnats of SIL Division Four.

The Gnats are fifth and two places below them in the table are Samuels, whose visitors are Central & South Norfolk League Division Three Lakenheath Casuals, riding high in third position after one defeat in seven league games.

The quarter-final draw will be announced via the Suffolk FA Twitter feed @SuffolkFA at 3pm on Monday.

 One of the two outstanding CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup Second Round ties is also taking place on Saturday.

Essex & Suffolk Border League Premier Division side Sudbury Sports entertain Macron SIL Senior Division East Bergholt United on the 3G pitch at the Mel Group Stadium.

The winners will find out who they will meet when the draw is announced simultaneously via the Suffolk FA Twitter feed @SuffolkFA and on BBC Radio Suffolk’s Non-League Hour at 8.30pm on Thursday.
