BRANDON Town Community are through to the second round of the 2020-21 Suffolk Sunday Cup.

BRANDON Town Community are through to the second round of the 2020-21 Rushmere Golf Club Suffolk Sunday Cup.

Just a week after the disappointment of losing last season’s final 4-3 on penalties to Gym United, Brandon bounced back to book their place in this season’s second round.

They were 3-0 winners away to fellow Bury & District Sunday League Division One side Hardwick in the first round as the 2020-21 season county cup competitions got under way.

Leiston Orient, winners of the Suffolk Sunday Shield in the 2016-17 season, had a 2-1 win at Fat Cat, while Kitchener Taverners trounced Pauls Athletic 7-0.

In the Suffolk Sunday Shield, there were first-round wins for Bury Bowl, Lakenheath, Trimley Raiders, Westbourne Warriors, with Trimley Raiders edging a nine-goal thriller against Sizewell Argyle.

There were a dozen ties in the Suffolk Sunday Trophy, with only one being settled on penalties, Bury United beating Chedburgh 5-3 on spot kicks following a 1-1 draw.

In the first round of the 2020-21 HomeStore Self Stoage Suffolk Womens Cup there were big wins for Brantham Athletic and Woodbridge Town, while Needham Market came out on top against AFC Sudbury in the meeting of the two clubs’ reserve teams.

The 2019-20 finals of the Suffolk Womens’ Cup, Suffolk Sunday Shield and Suffolk Sunday Trophy will all be taking place this coming weekend on ‘Super Sunday’ at Needham Market FC.
