SIL sides to meet in cup semi-finals

TWO SIL sides meet in the semi-finals of the Suffolk Senior Cup on Friday.

CRANE Sports will meet fellow SIL side Coplestonians in the semi-finals for the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup on Friday .

The tie is taking place at Bloomfields, home of Needham Market FC, kick-off 7.45pm.

Coplestonians had a more than convincing 5-1 win in the quarter finals against Debenham LC to progress to the last four, before the competition was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cranes narrowly missed out on winning the cup in the 2016-17 campaign, losing 2-1 to current holders Achilles in the final.

The second tie sees Henley Athletic face 2012-13 winners Ipswich Wanderers at Whitton United on Wednesday, September 16th, kick-off 7.45pm.

Henley came from behind, with a second-half goal, to secure their place in the semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Ipswich Town Under-18s.

Ipswich Wanderers, meanwhile, beat SIL side Old Newton United 1-0 at their home ground.

In accordance with The FA's return to football guidance, the semi-finals will have limited crowds. Tickets can be purchased here
