Winners presented with framed prizes
THE winners of the 2019-20 Suffolk FA Grassroots Photograph of the Season competition sponsored by Lockdales have received their prizes.
The top three in the competition, which is run in conjunction with Archant Ltd, publishers of the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star, were each presented with a framed photograph of their entry and a certificate.
The competition was won by Shirley Whitlow, the official photographer of Lowestoft Town FC, for her entry of the club’s skipper Travis Cole celebrating scoring for the Trawlerboys versus Needham Market at Crown Meadow in an FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie in September 2019. The runner-up was Paul Voller for his photograph of Bury Town striker Cemal Ramadan celebrating with fans after scoring in their 1-1 draw against Coggeshall Town at the Denny Brothers Stadium in the Isthmian League North fixture last November.

Third place went to Framlingham Town Chairman and club photographer Dean Warner for his photograph of Jono Fryatt’s goal in their 2-2 draw at Fakenham Town on the opening day of last season.
Suffolk FA Marketing & Communications Officer Nick Garnham said: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was not practical to get the three winners together as we have done in the past to present them with their prizes.
“However, it did allow us to visit both Shirley and Dean at the clubs they follow week in, week out as well as taking the photograph of Paul at another Suffolk ground at Stowmarket Town FC.”

Lockdales, the coin dealers and auctioneers who are based at Martlesham near Ipswich, have sponsored the competition for amateur photographers for the past three seasons.
