Grassroots awards entries are doubled
SUFFOLK FA have received a record number of entries this year for The FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards.
A total of 87 entries – more than double the number last year – were made during the six-week nomination period that closed on Monday night.
The nominations from around the county have been made across ten different categories as follows:
- Grassroots Coach of the Year (Adult team)
- Grassroots Coach of the Year (Youth team)
- Grounds Team of the Year
- Grassroots Club of the Year
- Grassroots League of the Year
- Grassroots Volunteer of the Year
- Rising Star of the Year
- We Only do Positive Respect Award
- Grassroots Match Official of the Year
- Grassroots Project of the Year
Suffolk FA Marketing & Communication Officer Nick Garnham, who co-ordinates the awards annually, said: “It is fantastic to see so many nominations this year.
“We hoped that with no football, individuals, clubs and leagues would have more time than usual to think about making a nomination, and that has proved to be the case.
“As always, there are some very strong entries across the board and I don’t envy our judges having to select the winners!”
The six members of the Judging Panel will be considering the nominations over the coming days before finalising their choices.
The winners will be announced next month.
