It's time to nominate Grassroots heroes

IT’S time once again to celebrate Suffolk’s grassroots heroes.

IT’S time once again to celebrate Suffolk’s grassroots heroes.

The FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football awards are for people who make a positive difference.

We want to celebrate the fantastic individuals who put their heart and soul into the grassroots game across England – and say a huge thank you to the incredible volunteers who inspire us all.

These volunteers have weathered the storm this season. It’s more important than ever to recognise and thank them for their hard work and dedication in a challenging time.

Make sure you tell us who makes a difference to your football community and nominate them for an award.

There are 11 categories this year as follows:

  • Grassroots Coach of the Year (Adult team)
  • Grassroots Coach of the Year (Youth team)
  • Grounds Team of the Year
  • Grassroots Club of the Year
  • Grassroots League of the Year
  • Grassroots Volunteer of the Year
  • Rising Star of the Year
  • We Only do Positive Respect Award
  • Grassroots Match Official of the Year
  • Grassroots Project of the Year
  • The Bobby Moore Award

Suffolk FA Football Development Manager Jodie Allard said: “With the restrictions we are currently facing on football related activity, there has never been a more prudent time to take stock and recognise the invaluable work of the grassroots volunteer workforce across the county.

“Even during these most challenging times, the grassroots community remains unflappable, proving support and guidance to their members and acting as the centrepiece of their communities.

“Please take this opportunity to nominate members of your club and community for the FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Awards that you feel deserve recognition for their work.

“There’s no doubt that grassroots football could not take place without the tenacious and selfless commitment of hundreds of individuals who contribute many hours of their time towards supporting their local communities through football, and these awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this.”

The closing date for nominations is Monday, May 18th.
