Local derby awaits in Premier Cup tie
NEEDHAM Market and Stowmarket Town will meet in a local derby in the semi-finals of this season’s Turners Hyundai Suffolk Premier Cup.
The two clubs, who are two steps apart on the Non-League Pyramid – Needham play at Step 3 and Stowmarket at Step 5 – were drawn out together.
Stowmarket, who lost in last season’s semi-final to Felixstowe & Walton United, will be bidding to reach their first Premier Cup Final since losing 1-0 to Newmarket Town in a replay in the 1996-97 season.
The other semi-final will see Bury Town play Lowestoft Town in a repeat of the 2011-12 and 2012-13 finals at Portman Road, which ended with both clubs winning once.
The draw was made on BBC Radio Suffolk during the Non-League hour on the Thursday Night Sports Social.
