Nominate inspiring COVID-19 individuals
THE FA want to pay homage to inspirational individuals who have gone above and beyond during the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a summer in which the nation should have been supporting England at UEFA EURO 2020, the spotlight will instead shine on a different squad of 23 who have stepped up at our time of need.
Launched with the support of BT, lead partner of the England teams, The FA are calling on the public to nominate worthy individuals to join this squad of Lionhearts.
A Lionheart could be somebody who has saved lives, inspired communities, undertaken phenomenal fundraising efforts or simply entertained others during these challenging months.
For so long, the nation has cheered on our England teams but now it’s time to repay that support.
Each of the 23 Lionhearts’ stories will be told across our channels in the coming months before having their place in this unique squad formally recognised at Wembley Stadium as soon as crowds return for a future international fixture.
Gareth Southgate and Phil Neville have joined captains Harry Kane and Steph Houghton as well as star strikers Marcus Rashford and Nikita Parris in helping to kickstart the call to action.
Nominations can now be submitted until 11.45pm on Sunday, July 12th, the day UEFA EURO 2020 should have reached its climax with the final at Wembley Stadium.
A panel including both senior England managers will then select a group of 23 Lionhearts to allow a collective celebration of stories that will continue to inspire the nation.
