The evening will cover various aspects of successful pitch preparation and the avenues of support and funding available to clubs, with emphasis on the following topics:

  • Maximising the Pitch Preparation Fund
  • The FA Pitch Improvement Programme
  • Funding – Machinery, grass revenue works
  • HIVE Groundsman network
  • Sports & Turf Topsoil deal for clubs
  • Practical tools to prepare your pitches

Phil Jeggo, Regional Pitch Advisor with the Grounds Management Association, said: “The aim of this workshop is to offer support and advice around ongoing pitch maintenance activities and to help clubs who were granted funding from the Football Foundation Pitch Preparation Fund to spend this money in the right areas to help improve their playing surfaces.

“Also covered will be pre-season tasks to help make pitches fit for play ahead of hopefully the start of the new playing season and to also answer any specific pitch related issues that clubs may have.”

Graham Turner, Engagement Manager at the Football Foundation, said: “As well as covering the practical elements of pitch maintenance, we will also be able to share with you details on how to access grants to support any maintenance machinery requirements identified at the site.”

Suffolk FA Football Development Manager Jodie Allard said: “This workshop will form the first support session for groundsmen as part of the new British Sugar TOILSPOL Suffolk Grounds Support Programme.

“We welcome all groundsmen, secretaries and chairmen involved in Suffolk clubs who maintain their own grass pitches to join the workshop.

“It will aim to give practical tips in getting grass pitches ready ahead of the new season, in addition to what avenues exist for supporting clubs with their grass pitch management.

“We will also welcome our programme sponsors, British Sugar TOPSOIL onto the workshop to explain the special offer they will be providing for Suffolk clubs to access their Sports & Turf Topsoil products.”
