Division Two sides in Junior Cup wins
TWO sides defeated higher-league opposition to reach the semi-finals of this season’s Total Football Suffolk Junior Cup.
Macron SIL Division Two sides Bramford Road Old Boys and AFC YourShirts beat Division One opponents Stanton and Ransomes Sports respectively on Saturday.
BROB, who had already knocked out at last season’s runners-up Bacton United 89, put five past Stanton without reply.
AFC YourShirts won 5-4 on penalties at Division One leaders Ransomes Sports following a 1-1 draw.
Halesworth Town, who are second behind Ransomes Sports in Division One, were 6-1 winners away to Somersham.
The previous evening Sudbury Sports were the first side to book their semi-final spot thanks to a 4-1 victory over Sporting 87, last season's losing semi-finalists, on Friday night.

The semi-final draw will be filmed and broadcast live on BBC Radio Suffolk’s Thursday Night Sports Social programme from 8.30pm onwards.
All of Sunday’s scheduled quarter-finals in the Suffolk Sunday Shield and Crown Imperial Boys’ Cups and Plate competitions as well as the Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Cup were postponed due to the high winds.
Suffolk FA took the decision on Saturday morning to make a blanket postponement of all Sunday’s fixtures.
Adrian Moye, Suffolk FA County Cups Competitions Manager, said: “The decision to postpone all of yesterday’s county cup games was made in response to the Amber weather warning. With it being quarter-finals some clubs would be travelling longer distances than normal and road conditions such as the possibility of fallen trees etc all conspired to make it an easy and safe decision to postpone games.
“Had we not called games off and people got to the matches and back safely the spectacle of a county cup quarter-final would have been farcical with the strong winds.
“All the Youth county cup matches postponed yesterday will now take place Sunday, March 1st as the next two weekends are school holidays and with parents taking children on holiday, it’s not good to expect county cup games to go ahead when some players may not be there through no fault of their own.
“As for the Suffolk Sunday Shield Quarter-Finals they will now take place on Sunday, March 8th.”
The semi-final draw for the Suffolk Sunday Cup will be filmed and broadcast live on BBC Radio Suffolk Thursday Night Sports Social programme from 8.30pm onwards.
However, the semi-final draws for the Crown Imperial Suffolk Boys’ Cups and Plate competitions, which were due to be announced via the Suffolk FA Twitter feed at 12.30pm on Monday, have been postponed until after March 1st.
