It's raining goals in Women's Cup ties

IT WAS raining goals in the first round of the Suffolk Women’s Cup.

IT WAS raining goals in the first round of the HomeStore Self Storage Suffolk Women’s Cup.

A total of 36 goals were scored in the five scheduled ties, with holders Ipswich Town leading the way.

They defeated AFC Sudbury 11-2, while Leiston St Margarets scored seven and both AFC Kesgrave and last season’s runners-up Needham Market netted six. The draw for the second round will be broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk on the afternoon of Saturday, September 28th.

In the sole Days Sports Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup tie to take place on Saturday it was Old Newton United who won 4-2 on penalties at Framlingham Town following a goalless draw.

Portman Rovers and Pauls both progressed to the second round of the Suffolk Sunday Cup, the draw for which will be announced live on the Suffolk FA Twitter feed at 12.30pm on Tuesday.

Rushmere & Diamonds were 9-1 winners against Westbourne Warriors in the Suffolk Sunday Shield. The second-round draw will be announced live on the Suffolk FA Twitter feed at 12.30pm on Wednesday.

In the first round of the Suffolk Sunday Trophy, Hardy FC trounced Athletico Once 16-0, while three ties were settled via penalty shoot-outs – Coldham Hall, Ipswich Pythons and West Suffolk Wolves all going through.

The second-round draw will be announced live on the Suffolk FA on Thursday.
