Kirkley & Pakefield to host KBB Festival

SUFFOLK FA are to stage a second KBB Grassroots Festival.

SUFFOLK FA are to stage a second KBB Grassroots Festival – this time a pre-season festival in the north of the county.

Following on from the success of the annual end-of-season festival in Ipswich, Suffolk FA are now planning a festival in conjunction with Kirkley & Pakefield FC.

The KBB Grassroots Festival will be staged at the club’s Walmer Road ground on Sunday, September 8th.

Suffolk FA Football Development Manager Jodie Allard said: “We are really excited to be bringing the KBB Grassroots Festival to the north of Suffolk for the 2019-20 season.

“The grassroots festival provides us with a fantastic opportunity to host a fun, safe and inclusive football event for our clubs as a thank you for all their hard work across the season, and it’s great that we can bring this showcase festival to Kirkley & Pakefield for the first time.

“A big thank you must go to the club who have agreed to host the festival this season, and we are sure the festival will provide a great experience for our teams. We hope to see you there!”

Paul Underdown, Chairman of Kirkley & Pakefield FC, said: “Kirkley & Pakefield FC are pleased to be offered the opportunity to deliver Suffolk FA’s Pre-Season KBB Grassroots Festival for this season.

“We look forward to welcoming players, managers and parents to our facilities for the day and working closely with both Suffolk FA and KBB to support a great day of football for everyone involved.”

KBB Director Roger Peck said: “Due to the Fantastic efforts and great success of the KBB Grassroots Festival, we are proud to partner another festival venue in the north of the county.

“With the help of Suffolk FA & Kirkley & Pakefield we hope to reach out to another group of teams across the north of the county providing them with a fun, free football festival for those teams attending.

“I am looking forward to September 8th and hoping to see a lot of smiling faces enjoying the beautiful game.”

The first Grassroots Festival was held as a one-day event in 2011, but it has grown into an annual two-day festival and has been staged at Whitton United FC for the past two years.

This year’s Women’s World Cup-themed event in May attracted a record 175 teams and Kelly Smith, England’s all-time leading goal scorer, was the Guest of Honour on the Saturday.

Entry is currently only open to Suffolk clubs. If availability for further entries arises this will be extended to out-of-county clubs.
