LFLF Challenge launch Sept 2018

Staff to undertake #LFLF fundraiser

SUFFOLK FA staff are to raise money for a defibrillator for a local club.

STAFF at Suffolk FA are to raise money for a defibrillator for a local club as part of next month’s Love Football, Live Football Week sponsored by MH Goals Ltd.

The week-long celebration of football in the county is returning for a third year from Saturday, October 13th until Saturday, October 20th.

Staff will be delivering and supporting a variety of events around the county throughout the week.

Suffolk FA Football Development Manager Jodie Allard said: “The team at Suffolk FA are very excited to announce the return of the Suffolk FA Love Football, Live Football Week for 2018.

“Suffolk has a fantastic network of volunteers, players, coaches, referees, parents and supporters who live and love the game on a weekly basis, and the week aims to thank and celebrate all of these people who contribute towards a thriving local game.

“We have a series of events across the week that we will be delivering and supporting to engage with the local football community and showcase the best environment within the game.

“The week also provides us with a great opportunity to thank our local partners, celebrate grassroots football and give back to the local football community.”

Among the events Suffolk FA staff will be delivering are the following:

Ability Counts Festival at Inspire Suffolk with 25 teams on Saturday 13th from 1pm-3pm

Under-7 Festival at Portman Road for 32 teams on Sunday, October 14th from 10.30am-12.30pm

School visit with Ipswich Town first-team players at a local school on Monday 15th from 1.30pm-2.30pm

CPD Event for coaches in Lowestoft with Jamie Godbold on Wednesday 17th from 6pm-9pm

Girls’ Schools Festival at Portman Road with 32 teams on Thursday, October 18th from 12.30pm-4.30pm

Girls’ 4v4 Festival at Copleston High School on Saturday 20th from 10am-12.30pm

Showcase game at Portman Road at the Ipswich Town versus Queens Park Rangers match on Saturday 20th from 3.45pm-4pm

The week is once again being sponsored by Beccles-based firm MH Goals Ltd and Managing Director Mark Harrod said: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring Suffolk FA’s Love Football, Live Football Week for the third year in a row.

“It’s an event we always look forward to, and a really important one too - with so much hard work going on at grassroots level, underpinning the game at all levels, it’s only right that this dedication gets recognised.

“This year’s event is set to be bigger than ever, so to support LFLF Week, MH Goals will be running special offers and competitions via our website and social media channels all week.”

Suffolk FA staff will be out and about across the county throughout the duration of Love Football, Live Football with their Instagram boards as before.

Photographs using the boards will be used to promote the week on social media, which will also feature video clips of people involved in grassroots football in the county saying why they love and live football.

Suffolk FA last year set up boot banks at five locations across the county to collect boots and trainers, as well as football kit, for Boots2Africa.

This year the staff plus a couple of directors will undertake a #LiveFootballChallenge to raise £1,100 for a portable defibrillator.

The defibrillator, which will aid anyone suffering a sudden cardiac arrest, will be donated to a Suffolk club.

Full details of how clubs can win the defibrillator will be announced on the Suffolk FA website from Saturday or you can visit the Just Giving page link below.

The #LiveFootballChallenge will involve Suffolk FA staff aiming to cycle a combined total of 312 miles – one mile for every club in the county – over a 24-hour period.

The challenge will end with chief executive Richard Neal cycling from Stowmarket and arriving at Portman Road before Ipswich Town’s match against QPR kicks-off on Saturday, October 20th.

Clubs who wish to be in contention to win the defibrillator or individuals wishing to donate can do so via the following Just Giving link: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/livefootballchallenge
