Thurston are drawn at Trophy holders
THURSTON have been drawn away to holders Bardwell Sports in the third round of this season’s Suffolk Sunday Trophy.
It is the third consecutive away draw Thurston have received in this season’s competition. They won 3-0 at Black Boy in the first round and followed that up with a 4-1 win at AFC Elmswell in round two on Sunday.
Bardwell Sports, meanwhile, had a first-round bye before beating Playford Reserves 2-1 in the second round. Action from the match is pictured above with Bardwell Sports (maroon shirts) attacking the Playford Reserves’ (green & white hoops) goal.
Last season’s runners-up Monarchs, who won 7-0 at Phoenix on Sunday, will host The King’s Arms, who put six without reply past Rushmere & Diamonds Reserves.
Two teams who had contrasting results in the second round – Abbotts 07 and Stoke By Clare – have been paired together. Abbotts 07 edged a nine-goal thriller at Eye Saints Youth while Stoke By Clare were involved in a goalless draw against Belchamp before emerging 3-1 winners in the subsequent penalty shoot-out.
