Former finalists to meet in Vets' Cup

THE draw has been made for the third round of the Veterans' Cup.

TWO former finalists will meet in the third round of this season’s Suffolk Veterans’ Cup.

Bury Town, the 2015 and 2016 winners, will host Capel Plough, who were runners-up in each of the previous two seasons.

Capel Plough scored three unanswered goals against Coplestonians Reserves, while Bury Town were winning 7-2 away to Black Boy.

Woodbridge Town, who prevented Bury Town from making it a hat-trick of successes when they beat them in the 2017 final and then retained the cup the following season, will be away to Suffolk Police.

Both teams had impressive victories in Sunday’s second round – Woodbridge were 5-0 winners at home to Bramford Road Old Boys while Suffolk Police beat Bacton United 89 4-0.

Whitton United, the biggest winners – 9-2 against Stowupland Falcons – in round two, will be make the short trip across town to face fellow Ipswich side Taydal Old Boys, who put out Framlingham Town 4-0.

Suffolk Veterans’ Cup Third-Round Draw: Trimley Sports & Social Club Res v Coplestonians, Taydal Old Boys v Whitton Utd, Walsham-le-Willows v Barham Athletic, Lowestoft Town v Westbourne Warriors, Bury Town v Capel Plough, ETC Lowestoft v Trimley Sports & Social Club, AFC Hoxne v Old Times, Suffolk Police v Woodbridge Town.

Ties to be played on Sunday, November 25th, kick-offs 2pm.
