New date arranged for Senior Cup tie

NEW dates have been agreed for two Suffolk county cup semi-finals.

A NEW date has been agreed for the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup semi-final between Achilles and Woodbridge Town.

The match will take place at Felixstowe & Walton United FC on Wednesday, April 11th, kick-off 7.45pm.

The last-four tie has so far been postponed twice – on the original date of Friday, March 9th and again on Wednesday evening.

On both occasions rain on the day of the tie has left the Goldstar Ground waterlogged, leaving officials with no alternative other than to call the game off.

The Days Sports Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup semi-final between Stowmarket Town and Whitton United has also been arranged for Wednesday, April 11th, kick-off 7.45pm at Ipswich Wanderers FC.

The tie was scheduled for Saturday, March 17th and then again for Wednesday evening, both at Wanderers' Humber Doucy Lane ground, but fell foul of the weather.

Suffolk County Cup Competitions Manager Adrian Moye said: “It’s been tough trying to arrange matches this season. The weather has really been against our cup schedule.

“I try to avoid arranging too many matches in January and February as they are perceived to be months for bad weather only to have a very wet March.

“Next month I’m expecting April showers! With a little bit of patience and some better luck with the weather we’ll get there, not as quickly as some may want but we’ll get the games played.”
