Junior Cup Final Bacton Utd Oulton Broad 2017 1

Easter treat is in store for winners

THERE’S an Easter treat in store for four Suffolk sides this weekend.

THERE’S an Easter treat in store for four Suffolk sides this weekend.

The winners of the four scheduled Suffolk FA county cup semi-finals will earn a place in an end-of-season cup final.

For the four sides left in the Suffolk Junior Cup, the stakes could not be higher – victory is set to earn them a trip to Portman Road for the final.

Bacton United 89 will be spurred on by the memories of lifting the cup in last season’s final at Colchester United FC against Oulton Broad when they tackle Trimley Red Devils at Woodbridge Town FC. Bacton’s players are pictured above before the final which they won 3-2 after extra time.

For Trimley Red Devils as well as AFC Kesgrave, Saturday’s semi-finals represent the opportunity to reach a first-ever Junior Cup Final.

AFC Kesgrave’s opponents Brandon Town have tasted success in the competition before, albeit back in the 1980-81 season thanks to a 4-0 victory versus Haughley United Reserves.

Ransomes Sports Ground in Ipswich hosts one of the Days Sports Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup semi-finals on Saturday afternoon.

Felixstowe & Walton United Reserves and Haverhill Rovers Reserves, who both play in the Thurlow Nunn Reserve League, are in opposition.

There is just one fixture scheduled for Easter Sunday – the Gym United versus Kitchener Taverners semi-final in the Sunday Cup.

Mellis will have one eye on the outcome of the tie at AFC Sudbury as they will meet the winners in this season’s final, after beating Bungay Town 3-1 last Sunday.

The question is can Kitchener Taverners do what no-one in this season’s FA Sunday Cup has managed to do and defeat Gym United?

The Premier Logos Bury & District Sunday League side now know that they will face Hardwick Social, the holders, in the FA Sunday Cup Final at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane ground on Sunday, April 29th, kick-off 1pm.
