THREE finalists from the last five seasons are through to the semi-finals of this season’s Suffolk Sunday Cup.

Mellis, last season’s losing finalists, booked their place in the last four courtesy of a 4-1 victory over Boxford Rovers. The Mellis side that lost 7-6 on penalties to AFC Chelmondiston is pictured before last season's final at Colchester United's Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Kitchener Taverners, who lost 6-4 to Gym United in a thrilling final in 2014, reached the semi-finals thanks to a 4-0 win at home to fellow Ipswich Sunday Football League Premier Division side Felixstowe Rangers.

Gym United, who also won the competition in 2015, made it into the last four without even kicking a ball!  Opponents Felixstowe Harpers United could not raise a side due to illness and injuries.

Mellis, Kitchener Taverners and Gym United join Bungay Town in the semi-final draw which will be announced on Thursday.

Several ties in the Crown Imperial Boys’ Cups fell foul of the weather on Sunday.

There were two 12-1 wins for AFC Sudbury in the Under-13 Cup – at home to Mildenhall Town – and in the Under-14 Cup – at home to Needham Market.

Walsham-le-Willows’ Eastern Junior Alliance side hit nine in the Under-14 Cup, while both Wickhambrook and Woodbridge Town scored six.

Whitton United’s Eastern Junior Alliance side edged a nine-goal thriller at home to Felixstowe & Walton United in the Under-15 Cup, while AFC Sudbury defeated Leiston 7-3 in Friday night’s fixture.

The Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Sunday Cup Quarter-Finals saw Mildenhall Town’s Ipswich Sunday Youth Football League side score seven times without reply versus Long Melford Colts.

In Sunday’s other completed tie Ipswich Wanderers went through 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Framlingham Town, who were last season’s runners-up.
