Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup trophy

Stowmarket reach Reserve Cup final

STOWMARKET Town are through to their second successive Suffolk Senor Reserve Cup Final.

STOWMARKET Town Reserves have the opportunity to be only the second side to successfully defend the Days Sports Suffolk Senor Reserve Cup.

They defeated fellow Thurlow Nunn Reserve League side Whitton United Reserves 2-0 in their semi-final at Humber Doucy Lane, home of Ipswich Wanderers FC, on Wednesday night thanks to goals from Tom Gould and Ash Holmes.

Terry Hovell’s side won the cup for the first time last season when they beat Woodbridge Town 2-1 in the final at Colchester United FC.

Only Lowestoft Town, who won the cup in 2009 and again in 2010, have managed to win the competition two years in a row since it was introduced in the 2006-07 season.

Their opponents in the final will be another Thurlow Nunn Reserve League side, Felixstowe & Walton United, who lifted the trophy in that inaugural season thanks to a 5-1 victory over Southwold Town but have not appeared in the final since.

This season’s final is taking place on Wednesday, May 2nd at Bloomfields, home of Needham Market FC, kick-off 7.30pm.
