Beccles Town Reserves will be playing in their fourth final in this competition in the last five seasons, twice losing to Woodbridge Town Reserves and last season to Hadleigh United Reserves.

Opponents Stowmarket Town U23s have been losing finalists themselves three times in the past six seasons.

Asked if Beccles Town Reserves were due a win on the law of averages, manager Charlie Bowen replied: “I hope you’re right!

“It’s great that we have made it to a few finals and full focus is on the upcoming final to do our absolute utmost to go one step further this year.

“Our preparation will be no different to any other game in the competition. It has worked to get us to the final, so we won’t be making changes to our prep, consistency is key.”

Beccles Town Reserves finished sixth in Division Two of the Fosters Solicitors Anglian Combination this season, while Stowmarket Town U23s are chasing a treble.

Bowen said: “We have had a good season, making good steps forward from last season having scored a higher points tally and scoring more goals.

“It’s hard to make comparisons across leagues with us playing in the Anglian Combination and Stowmarket in the Thurlow Nunn U23 League. They have had a good season winning the league so are in good form.

“A final is a great occasion to be involved in and obviously a really good opportunity to finish the season with a trophy.”
