Big day awaiting Mutford in cups
A BIG day awaits Mutford & Wrentham FC in the county cup competitions this weekend.
The club’s first team travel to holders Trimley Red Devils in the quarter-finals of the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup, while their Reserves host Hadleigh United at the same stage of the Portable Space Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.
The Senior Cup tie is one of two taking place on Saturday, with Gateway SIL Senior Division sides Tattingstone United and Haughley United also meeting for a place in the final four. The other two quarter-final ties are scheduled for next weekend.
Haughley United (black & white striped shirts) are pictured above in action during their 4-3 victory versus Stowupland Falcons (yellow shirts) in the second round.
Mutford & Wrentham Reserves have home advantage versus Hadleigh United, the 2022-23 winners, in the quarter-finals of the Portable Space Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.
That is one of three ties on Saturday, with Framlingham Town U23s facing fellow Thurlow Nunn League U23 North Division side Whitton United. Framlingham, who top the table with ten wins in 11 matches, will be favourites to progress.
The third match sees Haverhill Rovers U23s, who as Haverhill Reserves won this competition in both 2007-08 and 2010-11, welcome Halesworth Town Reserves to The New Croft.

They visit Ipswich Sunday Football League side Portman Rovers, while the remaining tie is between ISFL side Real Suffolk and holders Kitchener Taverners.
There’s also an all-ISFL meeting in the Best Badges Suffolk Sunday Shield Quarter-Finals as Division One sides Taverners (3rd) entertain The Golden Hind (2nd) on Sunday.
