Suffolk FA appoint interim CEO & Chair

PHIL Lawler has stepped in as interim Chief Executive Officer of Suffolk FA.

PHIL Lawler has stepped in as interim Chief Executive Officer of Suffolk FA.

He takes over following the departure of Richard Neal, who left last month to take up a new role with The FA.

Meanwhile, Senior Independent Director Julie Mulcahy will take over from Phil as interim Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Bringing extensive experience in county football, Phil Lawler (pictured above) will oversee the day-to-day running of the organisation, ensuring continuity and stability until a permanent Chief Executive is appointed.

Julie Mulcahy will provide strategic leadership and governance expertise, drawing on her broad experience in the sports and charitable sectors to guide the Board through this transitional period.

Phil Lawler said: “I am pleased to take on this interim role at such an important time for Suffolk FA. Football plays a vital role in our communities, and I look forward to working with the Board, staff and stakeholders to continue developing the game across the county.”

Julie Mulcahy added: “It’s a privilege to step into this role and support the excellent work of Suffolk FA. Our focus remains on ensuring strong leadership, strategic growth, and delivering real benefits for players, clubs, and volunteers across the region.”

Suffolk FA remains committed to growing the game, enhancing participation, and strengthening relationships with clubs, leagues and stakeholders.
