Holders progress in Suffolk Sunday Cup
HOLDERS Kitchener Taverners are through to the second round of this season’s Best Badges Suffolk Sunday Cup.
They defeated Holbrook Swan 9-0 on Sunday to set up a repeat of last season’s semi-final versus Bourne Vale United, which they won 3-0, in the second round on October 20th.
There were 39 goals scored in just six Best Badges Suffolk Sunday Shield ties at the weekend. There were big wins for Stowupland Falcons, Gardeners Arms, The Golden Hind and The Gold Eagles.
Four ties in the Best Badges Suffolk Sunday Trophy spawned 32 goals, Bury Pot Black leading the way by netting double figures, while Red Lodge Rovers edged Risby Greens 5-4.

The Endeavour Automotive Suffolk Premier Cup first round tie between Bury Town and Leiston, originally scheduled for this week, has been postponed.
The tie was earmarked for Tuesday night, but Leiston have an FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay at home to Brentwood Town after drawing 2-2 on Saturday. A new date has yet to be confirmed.
The other first-round match between Stowmarket Town and an Ipswich Town XI, is taking place next Tuesday, September 24th.
This season’s CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup First Round gets under way with three matches on Tuesday evening.
Both of the 2022-23 finalists are in action – winners Framlingham Town are away to Waveney – while AFC Sudbury Reserves, who they defeated in the final, host Haughley United.
The third tie sees Haverhill Borough host Henley Athletic.
